Gather. Go. Get

Use this guide to determine which documents you will need to bring with you to MVA when you apply for a Maryland driver's license, learner's permit, commercial driver's license (CDL), or ID card. The link below provides details about a change to Maryland Law regarding documents requirements.

You must visit an office with these documents:

  • if you are applying for your first learners permit, driver license, commercial driver license, or identification card
  • when your current product has expired for over one year
  • if you legally change your name (eg: by marriage or divorce)
  • if your product is either canceled, refused, or revoked

If none of these apply you may be able to renew online or at a MVA Kiosk.
